TASK

Trees for Credit’ is an innovative program developed and experimented by Green-Harmony, by integrating goals of poverty eradication and environmental protection. It supports Self Help Groups to start income generation activities by making credit available to them provided they plant and conserve a minimum number of trees.
Now we are planning to launch the program online with an interactive database, which facilitate tracking and monitoring outputs with an accountable and transparent system.

The trial run of the website is expected to be in March 2010.
We seek one or two volunteers, with expertises in developing data based websites.

Necessary inputs and information will be provided through email, skype or gmail talk.

[Magento] when you upload product image and click save, it takes you back to admin login screen

Today I was changing some codes in Magento fashion shopping mall as usual, I got new tech support from my client. She was updating product pictures. After browsing a picture and uploading process, the system took her to the login screen. This disabled her to upload a picture at all.

My solution was so simple. Sometimes, magento is unstable when I uninstall some 3rd party add-on. There must be reason but it looks like no reason. For this case, I couldn't figure out even though I do step-by-step reinstall on uninstalled add-on I did recently. I don't know how to solve. ( People says it is Flash involved problem. My case was not that.) However, I thought it is a cookie problem.

Admin > System > configuration > web > Session Cookie Management

changed value in Cookie Lifetime set 3600. (Mine was 0 meaning unlimited. somehow this isn't working.)

Magically this solves. My headache is gone. Bam!!!

When you are stuck in the middle of [ magento installation in WAMP environment.]

Today, I want to share this article for you and myself. Whenever I try to install Magento into my windows Vista WAMP server, I'm getting these errors but I am too stupid to write this down. Spending a couple of hours, I decided to do it. These are common error when I install Magento into my local windows machine.


Okay. Here's our guy.
Magento version 1.4.x with WAMP Server ver. 2.0 with Apache 2.2.11, PHP 5.3.0, mysql 5.1.36. in MS Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.


1. During installation, the screen is stuck with base URL validation problem.

Because this URL I just typed in is not valid in the real world, Magento is too smart to accept this value. Here's cure.

• Open {{magento installation directory}}/js/prototype/validation.js
• Find around 500th row, put comment mark or remove these expression.

• find row 81-83, (remember my magento version is 1.4.1.1) and put comment like these.

Hi folks.
I want to share this head-up today covering upcoming projects for 2011. I'm so excited with these internal projects assigned by EZnet Solutions' engineers. The programming platform varies as usual from Code Ignitor( CI) to Joomla. White most of our projects are driven by clients' requests, these guys are not from them but OURS! The reason? Simply we like it to make www-world beautiful!

Besides, AK, our senior officer is just falling in love with Code Ignitor (CI). He will be available with some projects with CI platform. I'm pretty sure he will write some articles up about CI this year. Okay. Here we go.

웹개발자는 항상 브라우저의 동향에 민감해야 하고 예측해야 한다. Chrome 은 share 는 지속적으로 증가할 것이다. 이제 웹표준을 준수하지 않는 브라우저( 예. Internet Explorer, IE ) 의 경쟁력은 웹개발자들에 의해 점점 제약받게 될 것이다.  웹을 컨트롤하는 사람들이 웹개발자들이기 때문이다.

웹개발할때 Firefox 에 맞추어서하면 chrome 과 IE 에도 거의 들어맞는다는 업계의 원칙이 있다. 웹표준과 비표준과의 매개자로서 Firefox 의 역할이 중요하다 하겠다.

우리 나라 IT 선도업체들이 뭉쳐서 모질라 재단과 같은 곳을 만들어 우리나라의 독특한 환경에 맞는 브라우저를 만들었으면 좋겠다. 이름 "거북선" - 인터넷을 용감하게 항해하라고 - 네이버와 다음, SK, KT, 은행들...이런 곳들이 외산업체들에게 우라나라 환경에 맞춰달라고 하지말고 우리나라에 맞는 브라우저를 만들고 우리나라의 은행 상황에 맞는 표준을 정해서 세계웹표준에도 영향을 발휘하는 나라가 되었으면 한다. 무작적 웹표준에 우리가 따라갈것이 아니라 웹표준을 선도하는 나라....그게 IT 강국이다. 언제까지나 잘따라가는 제자가 될 것인가? 이제 스승을 능가해야 하는 수준에 이르렀는데 언제까지 글로벌 시장 앞에 수줍어 할텐가....말이다.

접근성을 떨어뜨리면 가장 손해보는 사람은?

서희경이 LPGA 를 제패했다는 소식을 듣고 MBC 의 동영상을 좀 보려고 했더니만...

보통 한국 사이트를 잘 들어가지 않는데 오늘은 웬지 영상을 보고 싶었다고 하자.

아니나다를까....괜히 들어왔다는 생각.

MBC 는 친절하게 internet explorer 에 최적화 되어 있으니 인터넷 익스플러로를 이용해 달라고 안내하고 있었다.

난 최적화되지 않은 것을 그냥 쉽게 보고 싶었는데 최적화가 된 것이 아니면 보여줄수가 없는지...아무것도 시청할 수가 없었다.

세상의 폭력에는 여러가지가 있는 것 같다.
physical 한 폭력: 이건 다 아니까 패스
non-physical 폭력: 예를 들면 언어 폭력, 성폭력, 등등이 있는데 지금 주목하고 싶은 것은 시스템적 폭력이다.

시스템적 폭력은 시스템을 디자인할때 다른 옵션사항을 고려하지 않고 특정부류의 대상만을 고려하여 최적화 시켜 놓아 사회적 불평등을 초래하는 폭력이다. 이 시스템은 이런 부류의 사람들만을 대상으로 최적화시켜놓았으니 다른 부류에 속하신 귀하와 같은 사람은 적당히 다른 서비스를 찾아보라는 친절한 설명은 안해도 되겠다. commercial 한 entity 에서 그런다면 상관은 없는 일이다. 이것가지고 일인데모하며 삼성회관 앞에서 온갖 사람들 다 지켜보는데서 X 자 붙은 마스크 하고 할 일은 아니다. 왜냐 비즈니스는 특정대상을 위해 하는게 상식이다.

내가 하고 싶은 얘기는 정부나 공공기관에서 그러면 안된다. "항상" 무언가를 서비스하고자 하면 가장 중요시 여겨야 할 것이 바로 "접근성" 이다. 누구나 쉽게 접근할 수 있어야 하며 사용할수 있어야 한다. 내가 마이크로소프트를 다니건 다니지 않건 구글을 다니건 네이버를 다니건 공공기관에 접근할 수 있어야 한다.

내가 해외에 산다고 대한민국국민이 아니지 않듯 해외에 살아도 한국에 살때와 같은 서비스를 받을수 있어야 한다.

왜 한국이 자국기업도 아닌 Microsoft 가 만든 Internet Explorer 에 90% 의 국민이 사용하여야만 하는가? 내가 마이크로소프트직원이라면 우리 나라를 좀 이상하게 (약간은 우습게) 생각했을 것이다. 그건 내가 보잉직원이었을때 우리나라 국방부 관련 사람들이 좀 우습게 보였던 것과 비슷한 일일 것이다.

자신기업들의 이익을 지키기 위해서 아이폰을 들여놓지 않으려고 발버둥을 치다가 100등을 넘겨서 세계에서 아이폰이 들어간 나라가 되었다. 신쇄국정책이었다. 선진기술을 받아들이지 않고 애국심에 호소하다가 나라를 말아먹은 그때와 별반 다르지 않았다.

애국심에 호소해서 아이폰불매운동이라도 할텐가....? 한국국민들을 눈과 귀를 틀어막아서 아이폰이 판매되지 못하는 인프라를 구축하고, 몇몇 거대기업이 국민들을 나누어 갖는 그런 풍조는 이젠 그만했으면 좋겠다.

난 삼성이나 엘쥐가 아이폰 자체를 만들지 못한다고 생각하지 않는다. 아이폰이란 프로젝트가 사람들의 생활을 바꾸고 way of living 을 바꿔놓아서 결국 자신의 제품을 사용하게 만드는 것이다. 큰물에서 놀아본 경험없는 엘리트들의 기획력이란 세계를 바꾸고 새로운 플랫폼을 들이기 보다는 2등에서 열심히 투자하고 직원들 닥달해서 세계 최대의 매출을 회사의 돈버러지의 시녀의 역할 밖에 되지 못한다.

난 우리나라 기업들이 더 큰 비전을 꿈꿨으면 좋겠다.

Task 1 Establish an automated on-line database of members details. Add new members from a submitted form. Add the name and organisation of new members automatically to our members page and on NAYD maps. 

Task 2 - add email to our magazine distribution list. Require an on-line automated system that sends the magazine as an attachment,allows a message to accompany the magazine, allows users to unsubscribe.

The developer will be given access to the NAYD ftp so can carry out on-line tests as well as the excel spreadsheet with exisiting contact details and email distribution list for the magazine. The volunteer will closely liaise with NAYD's webmaster.

바이러스? exploit? php-injection? (gifimg.php)

손님 중에 하나가 자기가 관리하는 사이트에 접속하면 구글에서 나쁜 사이트라고 하여 경고 메시지를 내보낸다고 하는 다급한 연락을 받았다. 

#증상
1. google 에서 This site may be distributing malware. 라며 빨간 화면이 뜬다.
2. google 은 처음 이런 malware 가 보고 되었다고 사이트를 bad site 에 등록하지 않는다. 일반 사용자가 이 사이트가 등록되었을 때에 사용자의 pc 가 다른 사이트에 연결된 script 를 다운로드하게 되고, 이 웹사이트는 다른 웹사이트로 hijack 된다. 대부분의 웹사이트 관리자는 즉시 알아채지 못한다.
3.  간단한 결론을 내려주겠다.
" 당신의 서버는 해킹된 것입니다."
4. 서버를 뒤져보면 모든 디렉토리의 images/ 디렉토리 밑에 어떤 임의의 php 코드가 생긴것을 알아챌수 있다. (asp 서버라면 asp 겠죠.)

sugarCRM 의 가능성

저는 개인적으로 회사에서 일하면서 고객관리 프로그램으로 sugarCRM 을 사용하였다. 약 3년에 걸쳐 프로그램을 deploy 하고 customization 하면서 느낀 점을 적어본다.

1. 확장성: 슈가는 studio 기능을 제공해서 프로그램 지식이 있는 사람 (혹은 열정이 있는 사람)이 직접 필요한 모듈을 개발할 수가 있다. 물론 무료로 제공되는 커뮤니티 에디션에 한해서다. 시간과 안정성을 위해서는 그냥 저렴하게 구입하는 것이 맘이 편하다. 개발의 정도에 따라서 다르지만 슈가 crm 을 ERP 의 수준으로도 바꿀수가 있다. 내가 회사에서 사용했던 것이 그것인데 필요한 기능을 하나씩 추가해가다보니 회사가 필요한 모듈들이 갖춰져서 하나의 전사적 경영정보 시스템이 되어버렸다.

2. 속도: 속도가 좀 많이 느리다. 이것이 슈가의 가장 치명적인 약점이다. 특히 custom 모듈이 좀 들어가거나 무언가 불안정한 코딩이 들어가는 경우엔 로딩 되는데 심한 경우 20초 가량이 소요된다. 웹서버를 나름 튜닝 하기도 했고 인터넷에 나와 있는 슈가를 빠르게 하는 모든 방법을 동원해 보았지만 그래도 별 다른 소득이 없었다.

3. 심미적: 인터페이스는 깔끔하지만 조금 아기자기하고 너무나 많은 기능들이 있어 사용자마다 필요없는 기능을 숨기지 않는다면 사용자가 질겁해 버릴 가능성이 많다.

슈가는 역시 클라우드로 진출했는데 역시 바람직하다. 거의 모든 ERP 나 CRM 이 유저별로 subscription 가격을 받는다. 이런 면에서 슈가 community edition 은 고려해볼만한 가치를 지닌다. 사실은 이것은 오픈소스의 보석이다. 고객관리에 대한 개념이 없는 회사들은 절대로 성장하지 못한다. 구멍가게로 남을 것이냐 전국적인 체인망을 가진 회사로 키울 것이냐는 CRM 의 성공여부에 달려 있다고 해도 과언이 아니다.

아이러니 하게도 고객관리가 가장 필요한 곳이 어딘지 아는가? 교회다. 교회는 기능의 대부분이 고객관리다. 교적부를 어떤 식으로 사용하고 있는가? 꽁꽁 묶어 놓고 교역자들만 열람하게 만든 교회는 역시 monolopy 다. 개인정보를 오픈해서는 안되지만 오픈하지 않기 위해 사용하지 않는 우를 범하지 말기 바란다. 사용하지 않는 정보는 독점적이 되거나 정보로서의 가치를 잃게 된다.

donation 에 대한 부분에 대해서는 잘 정리되어 있는 것 같다. crm 이지만 contribution 에 관해서는 파워플하다.

단지 다소 저렴해 보이는 인터페이스와 취약한 documentation 과 커뮤니티는 좀 마음에 걸린다....

전세계적으로 식료품 값이 치솟고 먹거리에 대한 공포가 커져가고 있는 가운데, 쌀과 감자보다도 많은 양이 소비되고 있는 작물이 조용히 죽어가고 있다.

바로 바나나다. 특히 바나나는 '식품 제국주의'의 마수가 특정 작물에 뻗칠 경우 그 작물이 멸종될 수도 있다는 사실을 현실로 보여준 비극적 역사를 갖고 있다.

미국 등 제국주의의 '플랜테이션' 작물로 전세계로 보급됐던 특정 바나나 품종이 한 차례 대량생산 라인에서 사라진 전례가 있다는 사실을 아는 이는 그리 많지 않다. 또한 차선책으로 선택된 또다른 품종이 지금 몇 년 내에 다시 같은 운명을 맞게 될 운명이라는 사실을 아는 사람들은 더욱 적을 것이다.

영국의 <인디펜던트>는 22일 지금 우리가 즐겨먹는 바나나 품종인 카벤디시(Cavendish)가 죽어가고 있는 내막과 제국주의에 의해 유린되고 있는 '바나나 공화국'의 현실을 조명하는 기사를 실었다.(원문보기)

필자는 저명한 영국의 저널리스트 조나핸 해리다. 기사에 따르면, '파나마 병'으로 불리는 곰팡이에 감염된 바나나는 벽돌처럼 굳어지며 먹을 수 없게 된다. 그래서 바나나에게는 '암'이라고 불리는 치명적인 질병이다.

치료법은 없다. 한 번 발생하면 급속도로 확산되며 막을 길도 없다. 전문가들에 따라서는 5년, 10년 길면 30년 후면 우리가 알고 있는 바나나는 존재하지 않게 된다.

바나나는 원래부터 흔한 천연식품이 아니다. 유나이트 프루트(United Fruit. 현재는 치키타)라는 미국의 다국적 기업이 사람들의 입맛에 가장 맞는 그로스 미셸(Gros Michel)이라는 특정 품종을 선택해 대규모 농장에서 재배하기로 결정하면서 대량생산되기 시작한 것이다.

문제는 대량생산 과정이 제3세계에 대한 착취로 이뤄졌다는 점이다. 그 과정은 이렇다. 힘없고 가난한 나라를 찾아서 괴뢰 독재 정권을 세우고 자기들의 유리한 조건들을 강요했다. 물론 만일 이에 저항하는 정권이 있다면 교체한다.

'바나나 공화국'으로 불리는 괴뢰 독재 정권의 비호 아래 열대 우림을 불태우고 바나나 플랜테이션을 건설한다. 대표적인 '바나나 공화국'은 중남의 온두라스, 과테말라, 니카라과 등이다.

1950년 대 초 과테말라 국민들은 바나나 대기업들이 소유한 땅 일부를 무토지 농민들에게 나눠주겠다고 약속한 과학교사 출신의 야코보 아르벤스 후보를 대통령으로 뽑은 적이 있었다.

기사에 따르면, 당시 미국의 아이젠하워 대통령과 CIA(당시 국장은 유나이티드 프루트 출신)는 이 '공산주의자'들을 암살 대상으로 지목하고 살해 수단까지 적시했다. 망치, 도끼, 렌치, 드라이버, 부억칼 등이었다. 정권을 교체하는 과정에서 20만 명 이상이 살해됐다.

최근에는 치키타와 함께 바나나 시장을 양분하고 있는 '돌(Dole, 전신은 스탠더드 프루트)'이 1970년대 바나나 농장에서 사용하던 '네마곤(DBCP)'이란 살충제 농약 때문에 니카라과 플랜테이션에 일했던 노동자들이 불임과 암에 시달리고 있다며 보상을 요구하는 소송이 진행돼 화제가 되기도 했다.

이익 추구에 혈안이 된 다국적 기업들의 대응

'무소불위'의 대기업들이 이윤 추구에 혈안이 되어 있을 때 문제는 다른 곳에서 터졌다. 말 안듣는 정권은 교체할 수 있어도 바나나에게 발생한 괴상한 질병은 막을 수 없었던 것이다.

유나이티 프루트 소속 과학자들조차 20세기 초 '파나마 병'이 발생하기 전부터 특정 품종만 접목 기술로 번식시키는 바나나의 대량생산 방식이 초래할 위험성을 경고했다.

자기복제 식으로 계속 바나나가 무성 생식으로 생산을 거듭하면 특정 병이 발생할 경우 속수무책이 될 것이라는 지적이었다. 방역을 철저히 하면 사태 악화를 막을 수도 있었을 것이다. 하지만 이런 조치들에는 돈이 많이 들어간다. 주주들의 단기 이익 창출에만 봉사하도록 된 기업으로서는 당장의 이익을 누리다가 현재의 바나나 품종이 멸종되면 또 다른 품종을 찾으면 된다는 식으로 나갈 수 밖에 없었던 것이다.

결국 유나이티드 프루트가 '유일한 진짜 바나나'라는 이름으로 팔아대던 '그로스 미셸' 품종의 바나나는 1960년대에 들어 대량생산 라인에서 사라졌다. 이에 대체 품종으로 등장한 것이 '카벤디시'다. 그로스 미셸보다는 질이 떨어지지만 '파나마 병'에 내성을 가진 것으로 먹을 만한 것은 이것 뿐이었다.

유전자 조작 바나나라도 먹어야 할까?

하지만 해리는 "공포영화 속편처럼, 살인마는 다시 찾아왔다"고 말한다. 1980년대 들어 카벤디시 역시 시름시름 앓기 시작한 것이다. 카벤디시를 쓰러뜨릴 변종 곰팡이가 등장한 것이다.

제 3의 품종은 있을까? 물론 있다. 하지만 우리가 알고 있는 바나나와는 아주 다르고 맛도 훨씬 떨어져 대량생산하기에는 적합하지 않은 품종들 뿐이다. 그나마 가장 유력한 후보는 유나이티드 프루트 과학자들이 수백 종의 바나나를 교배해서 개발한 '골드핑거' 품종이다. 이른바 사과처럼 시큼한 맛이 나는 바나나다.

이제 유일한 희망이 있다면, 파나마병에 내성이 있는 유전자 조작 바나나를 만드는 것이다. 하지만 대량생산 및 보급되기까지는 현실화되기에 오랜 시간이 걸리고, 반대도 만만치 않다.

해리는 "바나나와 피와 곰팡이의 기묘한 밀크셰이크 속에 이 시대의 우화가 담겨 있을까"라고 묻는다. 그는 수백년 동안 몇몇 기업들이 규제도 받지 않고 특정 작물로 최대한의 이윤을 쥐어 짜낸 결과 수많은 나라의 민주주의가 파괴되고, 드넓은 열대우림이 불태워지고, 작물 자체마저 죽여버리는 사태를 초래했다는 점을 지적했다.

해리는 "조지 W. 부시 같은 전세계의 정치인들은 기업에 대한 규제는 '철폐되어야 할 위협'이라고 주장하고 있다"면서 "그들은 심지어 지구의 기후도 그들 손에 맡기라고 한다는데 그러다가 바나나 꼴 된다"고 경고했다.

Din Tai Fung

I drove 40 min from Los Angeles to Din Tai Fung restaurant with YJ. YJ was very tired but she's forced to go there because of nice weather. Sunshine is back!!


I wanted to taste XLB. Lucky day! We didn't wait more than 5 minutes to go in.
Our first impression on this restaurant. Pretty clean! it was beyond our expectation. Chinese restaurants is supposed to be little our of shape, huh? Tea came in very clean. Even restroom was clean. I bet the taste of food will be under 3 out of 5.

We ordered port& crab dumpling, shirimp & pork dumpling, shanghai rice cake(?). wanted small dumplings w/ soup but sold out. then ordered beef noodle soup.


every thing was so-so. nothing spectacular. We took out 2 pcs of Red bean bun when we left. red bean bun was fantastic. But YJ didn't like it. (She didn't eat much and she is still hungry.)

In the other side of the shopping mall, I found there is JJ bakery. I was so happy and shop little bit of bread (curry beef bread, tiramisu cake). looks good. smells good. I guess JJ bakery is like Torrence Bakery. good hunting today. but din tai fung was big disappointment today. I'll never come back.

Cassell's Hamburger

I did eat over 1,000 of Whopper in my life. Whopper was my favorite and there is no alternatives. When I moved to LA from Oregon, I noticed that Burger King restaurants are rare in southern California. The In-N-Out is more popular. Even Carl's Jr is better. I had the eager to find a good hamburger in Los Angeles. It wasn't easy. I heard of Cassell's Hamburger from the newspaper, Korea Daily. (중앙일보)


At that time, I was sick of Carl's Jr or local charbroiled quarter pounder hamburger. I still remember the moment we tasted the first bite. Youjin & I went to Cassel's hamburger. We felt like a stranger who does not know how to order. We didn't know how to start. One lady approached us and explained how to. Oh....that was easy. I ordered 2-3rd pound cheese burger. She did patty melt. I can choose a type of bread, cooked patty, and then I can pick up the side and ingredients so that I can make my own hamburger. When I chew the first bite of the patty, it was so meaty, juicy, premiumy......it is a paradise and it took care of my burger fix.

I know somebody complains it is pricey. I think this hamburger worth it. If you take out the hamburger, it will be cheaper because the hamburger price includes the buffet. The hamburger alone is not expensive. Parking? no problem. You can park at comfort Inn parking lot. Once I eat the cassell, I don't go to Carls Jr any more.

It is worth a life. must go.

I decided to use this blog yesterday. After researching some internet services, I decided to use the blogger. I'm not going to write in korean althou my girl friend has nice blog in korean. If I feel like write something in korean, I'll go there.

Anyway, I do know good place to eat and hang out. If you're not tourist but resident in Los Angeles, anf if you're not familiar to go out, be my guest. ^^
